Senior coalition builder and systems change architect with 32 years of successfully challenging the status quo and driving communications programs toward demonstrated impact at HHS. Most recently he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and was principal advisor and major policy-coordinating official on communication across public health, health care, and particularly the human services portfolio of HHS agencies. Prior to his HHS leadership role, Mark was Director of Communications for HHS’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. He received a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, an MBA from George Washington University, and executive education certificates from Harvard Kennedy School.
